Dr Sprowls joined the staff in 2008 and she and her husband Charlie purchased the clinic from Dr Rieder in 2017. Her special interests include surgery, exotic animal medicine and emergency care. Dr Sprowls and her husband also welcomed their daughter, Kaylea, to the Glenolden Animal Hospital family in 2017. Their family also includes some furry and scaly critters they affectionately refer to as "the zoo".
Dr. Alexis Mayer is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her undergraduate education at University of South Florida with a major in Biology. Dr. Mayer is originally from New Jersey and practiced in up-state New York for three years prior to joining our staff in 2009.
Dr. Cameron graduated from North Carolina State University. She pursued Acupuncture training as a study abroad student in China through the Chi Institute. She attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her undergraduate degree. Her special interests include acupuncture, holistic medicine, and geriatric patient care. Dr. Cameron has lived in Delco for two years with her Husband, daughter, and two Bengal cats. Outside of work, her hobbies include gardening, horseback riding, and playing at the park with her family.
Dr. Motta grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island. She received her undergraduate degree in biology at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and her Veterinary Medical Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. During veterinary school, Dr. Motta traveled to Thailand to participate in spay/neuter clinics, and contributed to a research study and publication on Cushing’s Disease in dogs. Her interests include preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, shelter medicine, and animal behavior. Dr. Motta currently lives in the DELCO area with her dog Dallas, who was rescued from the Middle East! During her free time, she loves running, cooking, and spending time outdoors with her dog.
Dr. Gruenheid is our MOVES veterinary surgery partner, available to perform advanced orthopedic and soft-tissue surgeries at Glenolden Animal Hospital. Dr. Gruenheid is a board-certified veterinary surgeon whose special interests include fracture management, orthopedic surgeries, airway surgery and thoracic surgery. She completed her veterinary medicine degree in Munich, Germany in 2009 and worked at two referral practices while completing the ECFVG® certification (Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates). In 2014, she was accepted into a surgical fellowship program at Michigan State University, then offered a surgical internship at Washington State University. In 2015, she moved to Ohio where she completed her residency and masters program at The Ohio State University. Dr. Gruenheid moved to Pennsylvania with her husband and two Rhodesian Ridgebacks in 2018. She worked as an orthopedic and soft tissue surgeon at a referral center in the suburbs of Philadelphia before joining MOVES in the spring of 2021.
Dr. Merola is originally from Berlin, CT. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in Animal Science followed by her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Her interests include exotic animal medicine and emergency care. Dr. Merola lives in the Philadelphia area with her two cats, Marco and Milo. When not working, she enjoys traveling, skiing, going to the beach and spending time with her family and friends.
